Stephen Drew (back) has returned to the starting lineup for the Red Sox on Monday.
Drew missed back-to-back games over the weekend due to back issue, but it was never a major concern. The 30-year-old is hitting .238/.336/.410 with three home runs, 18 RBI and a .746 OPS through 31 games this season.

Drew was able to play through a minor back issue on Friday, but the Red Sox don't want to push him. He should be ready to roll again soon. Pedro Ciriaco is getting another start at shortstop.

Drew played through a back issue on Friday and the Red Sox don't want to risk it again. The injury is not considered serious, though, and Drew will try to return on Sunday.

Stephen Drew went 4-for-5 with a homer and a game-winning double in the bottom of the 11th Monday against the Twins.
Drew's double bounced off the bottom of the Green Monster after Ryan Doumit, playing the outfield for the first time this season, got way too cautious around the wall. But while that ball should have been caught, Drew had a great night regardless. The homer was his second of the season. He also had an RBI single in the fifth, and he would have scored that inning except umpire Cory Blaser blew the call at home. With the four hits, Drew raised his average from .182 to .225.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said on WEEI in Boston that Shane Victorino (hamstring) is out of the lineup again Wednesday.
Victorino hasn't played since he left Monday's game with left hamstring tightness, but Farrell said he is "moving in the right direction." Consider him day-to-day.

Franklin Morales (back, pectoral) is expected to make at least two more rehab starts before being activated from the disabled list.
Morales threw three innings in his last outing and will stretch it out to four innings Saturday. The lefty would have been activated by now had the Red Sox wanted him as a reliever, but they're stretching him out as a starter in case he's needed in that role. "Well, he'll likely get to four innings [on Saturday], and if we don't change course with his role, we'd like to get him to a minimum of five before we'd look to do something back here," manager John Farrell said.

Joel Hanrahan was upbeat Friday after he required Tommy John surgery in addition to flexor tendon surgery on Thursday.
Hanrahan will be in a cast for ten days, but will start the rehab process shortly thereafter. Either way, he's looking at a 12-to-14 month timetable for his return. Hanrahan, who is a free agent after the season, is a long way away from having any tangible fantasy value.
