Travis Ishikawa blasted two home runs and drove in five, leading the Brewers to an 8-0 victory over the Mets on Tuesday.
Ishikawa finished the night 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and five RBI. He hit a solo shot off Dillon Gee in the fifth inning, then took him deep again for a three-run blast in the sixth. With the injury to Mat Gamel, the door has been opened for Ishikawa to receive additional playing time at first base, and he appears to be doing everything in his power to earn it. Ishikawa is now hitting .260 with four homers and 12 RBI in 50 at-bats.

Travis Ishikawa will start at first base and bat eighth Wednesday against the Padres.
Ishikawa is starting in place of Mat Gamel, who flew back to Milwaukee to have his knee examined. The Brewers are already thinking about possible contingency plans, as Brooks Conrad is starting at first base Wednesday with Triple-A Nashville.

Travis Ishikawa homered in a second straight game Wednesday against the Astros.
Ishikawa has played two in a row because Mat Gamel has a sore shoulder. Gamel is doing just fine at the plate so far, so Ishikawa still isn't in line for much playing time if Gamel proves healthy.

Travis Ishikawa hit his first homer of the season in Tuesday's 9-6 victory over the Astros.
The two-run shot put the Brewers ahead in the fifth inning. It was his first major league four-bagger since August 8, 2010. Back then he was batting .293. This season he is batting only .188 in 16 at-bats.

Mat Gamel underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his right knee.
Gamel also had surgery to repair a debridement of the lateral meniscus. He will miss the rest of the season. Travis Ishikawa, Taylor Green, Corey Hart and Brooks Conrad have all seen time at first base since his injury and the Brewers could eventually go outside the organization for a more stable solution.

It's just a procedural move. Gonzalez underwent season-ending surgery for a torn ACL about one week ago.

Chris Narveson underwent successful surgery Tuesday to repair the labrum and rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder.
Narveson will need nine months to recover, so he will miss the rest of the season and possibly the early part of spring training next year. The 30-year-old southpaw has made 28 starts for the Brewers in each of the past two seasons and will be arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter.

Brewers placed RHP Marco Estrada on the 15-day disabled list with a right quad strain.
Estrada suffered the injury on Wednesday night while running the bases. Brewers general manager Doug Melvin told a radio station in Milwaukee on Thursday morning that the 28-year-old right-hander will miss 3-4 starts. It's not yet clear who will be asked to fill in.
