Jeff Gordon, a three-time All-Star race winner (1995, 1997 and 2001) of this annual event, believes aggression is key in the race split into four segments of 20 laps and one final 10-lap sprint to the checkered flag.
"The All-Star race is kind of a 'win-or-nothing' scenario, and that's not the case on other race weekends," said the four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion who captured his 300th top-five finish in his 700th career start last weekend. "I've always approached it being as aggressive as I possibly can. We push hard trying to win every race, and this weekend is no different. It may not be tame or the same, but respect is what Jeff Gordon will give Darlington Raceway as he prepares for his 700th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this Saturday night in the Bojangles' Southern 500.
Saturday's race marks Gordon's 700th start - all consecutively - in NASCAR's premier series. In 32 starts at the egg-shaped Darlington Raceway oval, Gordon has three poles and 21 top-10's. He is also tops among active drivers in the following statistical categories: seven wins, 18 top-fives and 1,720 laps led - 903 laps more than any other driver (nearly the equivalent of 2.5 races).-Performance PR Plus

With 12 victories combined at Talladega Superspeedway and Daytona International Speedway, Jeff Gordon is the all-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series leader in restrictor-plate victories.
In 40 starts at Talladega Superspeedway, Gordon's six wins, 15 top-fives and 839 laps led are the most among active drivers. He also has three poles and 19 top-10's at the Alabama track.-Performance PR Plus

Richmond International Raceway has been the site of two of Jeff Gordon's 87 career NASCAR Sprint Cup victories.
