Kurt Busch had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the final practice for the Sprint All-Star race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
His average speed of 185.133 mph in the No. 78 Chevrolet was best of the 12 cars that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. No. 48 Jimmie Johnson, No. 2 Brad Keselowksi, No. 55 Mark Martin and No. 5 Kasey Kahne are the rest of the top five on this list.

Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway will mark the 12th appearance in the annual classic for Furniture Row Racing driver Kurt Busch.
Busch’s overall All-Star Race record is: 11 starts, one win, four top-fives, six top-10s, one pole and 30 laps led. His average start is 8.1 and average finish 10.8. He followed his 2010 All-Star Race win with a victory the following week at Charlotte in the Coca-Cola 600. He is one of four active drivers to have won the Charlotte double. The others are Jeff Gordon (1997), Jimmie Johnson (2003) and Kasey Kahne (2008). Busch qualified for this year’s Sprint All-Star Race as both a former winner of the event and as a former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion (2004).-Furniture Row Racing

Kurt Busch won the Coors Light Pole Award for the 64th Annual Bojangles' Southern 500 with a lap of 27.032 seconds, 181.918 mph.
This is a track record, which was previously set by Kasey Kahne in 2011 with a lap of 181.254 mph. This is the No. 78 Chevrolet driver's 16th pole in 446 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. This is his first pole and third top-10 start in 2013. This is Busch's second pole in 17 races at Darlington Raceway. He was the youngest pole winner at Darlington Raceway when he won the pole in September 2001. He was 23 years and 29 days old.

"The memory is vivid and the outcome is unfortunately the same," said Kurt Busch, 10 years after his historic loss to former NASCAR stalwart Ricky Craven at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, site of Saturday night’s Southern 500.
Craven’s margin of victory over Busch at the 2003 Darlington spring race was by two-thousandths of a second, the closest margin since the inception of electronic timing and scoring in 1993. In 2003, Busch was driving the No. 97 Ford for Roush Racing while Craven was driving the No. 32 Pontiac for PPI Motorsports. After seeing a win slip away at Darlington, Busch wants nothing more than to claim a victory at one of the crown jewel races on the Sprint Cup circuit.-Furniture Row Racing
