Tony Gibson, crew chief for Ryan Newman's No. 39 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, has been placed on NASCAR probation until June 27 for violating Section 12-1 and Sections 12-4G and 9-4A (Crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his team members).
Andrew Rueger, a crew member for the No. 39 team, has been fined $5,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until June 27 for violating Section 12-1 (failure to comply with a directive from a NASCAR official). The violation occurred post-race when Newman's team was involved with Kurt Busch's team. Busch was fined $50,000 for the incident.

In 13 races, Ryan Newman’s average finish at Darlington is 11.6; ranking third in average finish for Newman – behind Kentucky and Dover.
In his 13 Darlington starts, Newman has finished 14th or better all but three times. He has one pole (fall 2003) at Darlington. In addition to the pole, Newman has qualified in the top-10 in all but three races at the 1.366-mile oval. The field was set by points due to rain for one of those starts outside the top-10. In three Darlington starts since joining the No. 39 team, he has started sixth or better and finished ninth or better each time.-True Speed Communication

Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 will mark Ryan Newman’s 21st career Sprint Cup start at Talladega Superspeedway.
He has four top-five finishes and seven top-10s in 20 starts. His best finish came during the 2009 spring race, when he finished third. While Newman has never scored a pole in Sprint Cup competition at Talladega, he did sit on the pole at the 2.66-mile superspeedway for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in April 2009. Newman piloted the Kevin Harvick, Inc., Chevrolet to a runner-up finish that weekend.-True Speed Communication

Ryan Newman has one win (2003), two poles, three top-five finishes and three top-10s in 17 starts at Texas.
Newman’s win at Texas was his second career victory in the Sprint Cup Series. In that race, he started third and led 77 laps en route to victory. His two poles at Texas came back-to-back in April and November 2005. He also has one pole in the Nationwide Series at Texas (November 2005). In that race, he led 122 of 200 laps, but an untimely caution flag after a green-flag pit stop left Newman one lap down, relegating him to a 16th-place finish.-True Speed Communication
