Simpson was already heading to Israel to play with Maccabi Ashdod, and the Rockets needed another roster spot to add rookie PG Scott Machado.

Diamon Simpson will play in Israel with Maccabi Ashdod.
Simpson finished the season with the Rockets after playing in Australia to start the year, but now he'll head to Israel in search of a bigger role. He was never going to make the final roster in Houston this season.

Rockets signed PF Diamon Simpson.
Simpson is a former undrafted free agent and undersized power forward out of Saint Mary's. He's previously had stops in the Philippines, Turkey, Australia and the D-League. Simpson's contract is guaranteed for the rest of the season, but non-guaranteed for 2012-13.

Sidelined
NBA Commissioner David Stern said the Rockets have "handled the (Royce White) situation as well as it could under the circumstances."
At this point in the White saga, it's hard to guess when or if he'll ever see the floor in Houston. He finished his rookie season without playing a single minute in the league and only seeing sporadic action in the D-League.
