Kings president Geoff Petrie said Isaiah Thomas is a "player who we can count on."
Petrie sounds like a man committed to Thomas as his starting point guard for the long haul. "He's just a top-level competitor," Petrie said. In 37 rookie starts, Thomas averaged 14.8 points, 5.4 assists, 1.6 3-pointers and 1.0 steals. His role for the 2012-13 season appears safe.

Isaiah Thomas wants to use the offseason to work on passing with his right hand.
"Steve Nash and (Rajon) Rondo, they come off picks and they can pass with either hand, pocket-pass, behind the back, over the top of the head," he said. "I'm OK at it, but I want to be where they are," he added. Thomas has lofty goals for himself, and we like what we saw from him in his rookie season -- and hopefully the Kings don't mess this guy up. In 37 games as a starter, he averaged 14.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists 1.0 steals, and a ridiculously low 2.0 turnovers per game.

Isaiah Thomas scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting (including three treys) with zero rebounds and three assists over 25 minutes in the Kings' blowout loss to the Thunder.
Thomas was presented with his first difficult defensive matchup on this side of Deron Williams in the form of Russell Westbrook, who shares his quicks and has enough height and leaping ability to jump over the explosive Thomas. The diminutive guard still held his own, though, and returned the favor on offense a few times as you can see. The minutes may or may not have been an issue if the score was close. Marcus Thornton scored 12 points with two threes, and DeMarcus Cousins hit just 3-of-14 shots for nine points, 12 boards, and three steals in the loss.

Isaiah Thomas cooled off on Wednesday, hitting just 1-of-5 shots for two points, two rebounds and seven assists in 21 minutes in a loss to the Hornets.
Thomas has looked a tad bit sluggish lately, but it hasn't impacted his overall play on the court. After going to the tape we found that he played a virtually flawless game on defense and on offense he handed the ball off to his teammates a lot, but was more or less effective. His mistakes, if you want to call them that, consisted of a few iffy shot attempts and that's it. Hopefully Keith Smart just wanted to get him some rest, otherwise this was another case of Smart tinkering with what he shouldn't be.

Marcus Thornton (quad) will not play in Thursday's finale against the Lakers.
Thornton ends up missing 15 of 66 games this season due to quad and calf issues. But when he played, the former second-round pick once again proved that he can score at an extremely high level. He set career highs in points per game (18.7), 3-pointers (2.1), steals (1.4) and free-throw percentage (86.5). Thornton will return as the starting shooting guard again next season.

John Salmons (hip) is not traveling with the Kings.
Salmons is almost certainly done for the season. He was relegated to a bench role mdiway through the season and will end up averaging just 7.5 points per game on 40.9 percent shooting. Salmons is due $8 million next season and his role will depend on the moves the Kings make this offseason.
