Brazilian big man Rafael Hettsheimeir has agreed to a deal with Real Madrid, ending his flirtation with numerous NBA teams.
The Cavaliers and Mavericks were both rumored to have interest in Hettsheimeir, but nothing came of it -- he's still recovering from a knee injury he suffered during the Olympics, which can't have helped their scouting efforts. Don't be surprised to hear his name again in the summer of 2013.

Brazilian free agent Rafael Hettsheimeir is expected to choose where he'll sign in the next 15 days -- he's being pursued by NBA teams, but could also sign with Maccabi in Israel or Zaragoza in Spain.
The Mavericks and Cavaliers have both shown interest in the 6'10" big man, but right now there's no way to tell which way he's leaning. He's unlikely to make a dent in fantasy leagues this season, regardless of where he lands.

Mavericks president Donnie Nelson said that "nothing is close to happening" with Brazilian prospect Rafael Hettsheimeir.
There were reports that Dallas had offered Hettsheimeir a contract, but the Mavs have a full roster with 15 guaranteed contracts. Hettsheimeir could sign with another team (the Cavs are rumored to have interest), but the Dallas Morning News writes that he "may have to work through some physical problems before the Mavericks or any other NBA team is ready to commit to him." The nature of those 'physical problems' is unclear, but he's an afterthought regardless of where he lands this year.

The Mavericks have reportedly made a contract offer to Brazilian big man Rafael Hettsheimeir, who has been playing in Spain for the past few years.
Hettsheimeir is drawing interest from a variety of teams, and will soon visit the U.S. for a series of physical tests and workouts before deciding which team to sign with. No matter where he lands, he projects as a middling backup PF/C in the NBA -- he averaged 13.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and only 0.4 blocks in 30.1 minutes per game last year, which doesn't bode well for his fantasy outlook.

Roddy Beaubois underwent successful hand surgery on Wednesday and is out for the season.
The odds of Beaubois returning are "extremely slim," so we'll consider him out for the season for all intents and purposes. Beaubois will be a free agent in the offseason, and it's hard to see him returning to the Mavs. Dallas will roll with Mike James and Darren Collison at point guard.
