Jason Kidd "indicated" to GM Glen Grunwald that he planned to return next season.
Kidd is under contract for two more years and is undecided on his retirement, and although it's not clear what the veteran point guard will ultimately decide, it wouldn't surprise us either way. If Kidd does retire, the Knicks will be in the market for a point guard once again.

Knicks coach Mike Woodson strongly hinted Friday that he would stick with the same rotation and minutes in Saturday's Game 6.
That rotation kept the struggling Jason Kidd and the rusty Amare Stoudemire on the bench for the entire second half. Kidd appears to be barely hanging on at this point in the season while STAT is still adjusting after returning from his second knee surgery of the season. The absence of both players allow Chris Copeland to play a substantial role and the rookie forward gave the Knicks enough of a boost in Game 5 that Woodson said he might increase Copeland's minutes Saturday. It's hard to see either Kidd or STAT having much of an impact the rest of this series.

New York Post
Jason Kidd doesn't considering himself a scorer and said missed shots won't "dictate my game."
Kidd hasn't scored since Game 2 against the Celtics but has only attempted 16 shots from the field in eight games. Unfortunately for him, no one else on the Knicks is scoring, which magnifies Kidd's struggles. At this point is his career, Kidd isn't known for his offensive prowess but the Knicks need him to at least chip in a couple points here or there to be worthy of the 22.2 minutes he's averaging per game.
May 15 - 4:11 PM

The New York Times
Jason Kidd has zero points and at least two rebounds in each of his past seven games, the longest such streak in NBA history (playoffs or regular season).
Since Game 2 vs. the Celtics on April 23rd, Kidd is a combined 0-of-14 from the field despite averaging 21.6 minutes per game. With J.R. Smith also in a shooting slump, it's small wonder the Knicks only scored 71 points in their Game 3 loss. Charles Jones was the previous holder of Kidd's dubious record with a six-game streak as a backup big man for the Bullets in 1992.

J.R. Smith
Sidelined
J.R. Smith played through the postseason with a swollen left knee "that contained fluid buildup," a source told the New York Post.
According to the source, Smith is "likely" to have his knee drained at some point during the next two weeks. While this would certainly help to explain Smith's struggles in the playoffs, we're not buying into the idea that the knee was solely responsible for his shortcomings. He's expected to be fine well in advance of training camp, but it's unknown where he'll be. He has until June 25 to exercise his player option for next year, or he'll be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

Carmelo Anthony
Sidelined
An MRI revealed that Carmelo Anthony has a small labral tear in his left shoulder.
The plan for Anthony will be to let the injury heal on its own for three or four weeks, then if there is no improvement, surgery will become an option. Melo's shooting numbers were awful in the postseason, making just 29.8 percent from the field. There's no correlation to his shoulder causing this issue, but it does make some sense since he was visibly bothered by the issue over the past month. Regardless of the treatment, Anthony should be ready for the 2013-14 opener.
