Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski says the Clippers backed out of their trade with the Celtics due in part to financial considerations.
The trade was DeAndre Jordan and two first-round picks for Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers. The Clippers would have had to sign Rivers to a five-year, $35 million contract and paid a $3 million trade kicker on Jordan. The 37-year-old Garnett still has two years and $22.4 million left on his contract. They also were expected to sign Paul Pierce after he reached a buyout with the Celtics. In the end, the money coupled with the Clippers' desire to give up only one first-round pick killed the deal.
