Mark Cuban said that he will "have conversations" about Shawn Marion opting out of his contract and re-signing for more years at a lower annual salary.
Marion will earn $9.3 million in the final year of his contract, far more than he'd get on the open market. Cuban also noted that "there's no point in [Marion] opting out" if the Mavericks aren't targeting free agents with the additional cap space. It seems doubtful that "conversations" with 35-year-old Marion will get very far, and his name is already popping up in trade rumors. May 26 - 9:30 AM
