The New York Knicks have given Mike Woodson a multi-year contract extension, as the team officially announced him as head coach on Friday.
The Knicks announced the contract extension, but the terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Knicks finished the regular season 18-6 under Woodson and managed to win one game against the Heat in their first-round playoffs matchup.

Coach Mike Woodson has already talked to Carmelo Anthony about improving his conditioning next season.
Anthony shouldn't have a problem staying in shape this summer. He'll begin pre-Olympic training camp in July and then head to London for the Games in August. Knicks training camp will open in October. Anthony shined under Woodson's isolation-heavy offense last season, averaging 23.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 3-pointers and 1.2 steals over his final 30 regular season games.

According to beat writer Frank Isola, the Knicks will announce Mike Woodson's new contract to remain head coach no later than Thursday.
Isola writes that the team never conducted an outside search nor did New York ever reach out to Phil Jackson. The new contract will be for either three or four years, and it will be interesting to see how much money the team is prepared to commit to Woodson after being burned by big coaching deals in the past.

The Knicks are expected to announce Mike Woodson's new contract with the team sometime "this week," a source tells the New York Post.
This was essentially a formality after the New York Daily News had previously reported the two sides were working on a new deal. James Dolan had reportedly asked Woodson to switch agencies to CAA (a firm with power inside the organization), and now the final details of Woodson's new deal are being hammered out. CAA represents Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, team personnel director Mark Warkentien and assistant GM Allan Houston. To nobody's surprise, the candidate Melo endorsed as head coach will remain with the team.

When speaking about the recent extension given to head coach Mike Woodson, Knicks GM Glen Grunwald also said he "can't see a scenario where we don't keep [Jeremy] Lin."
The case to hear if Lin will be eligible to be re-signed under the "Bird Rights" won't be until mid-June, but it sounds like the Knicks plan on bringing him back no matter what. There will be several teams interested in Lin, as the Raptors, Trail Blazers, Mavericks, and even the Warriors have been mentioned as possible suitors this summer. The bottom line is that New York can match all offers for Lin and it looks like they will do just that.

Free agent Baron Davis underwent right knee surgery Thursday.
Davis, 33, is now facing 12 months of rehab after tearing his ACL, MCL and patella tendon. He's also dealt with back woes, weight problems and declining effectiveness over the last few seasons. Davis' NBA career is in jeopardy.
