Apparently all is fair in love and war, including Irsay's recent proclamation that Manning's future in Indianapolis is up to him. The only logical endgame to Manning and Irsay's public tug-of-war remains Manning's release before his $28 million option bonus comes due on March 8.

According to the National Football Post, the ''buzz around the league'' is that Seattle could be the early frontrunner for Peyton Manning.
There would be fewer obstacles preventing Manning from going to Seattle than there would be to Washington, Arizona or Miami, so the "buzz" might be true. With Manning still under contract with the Colts, however, it's still too early to meaningfully speculate on where he might end up.

Citing a source with knowledge of the situation, Profootballtalk refutes Colts owner Jim Irsay's comments that he's been negotiating with Peyton Manning over the past couple of weeks.
We were skeptical of Irsay's comments to local TV stations that he and Manning have been working on a revised contract. PFT's source claims "numbers aren't being discussed." The same source suggests a feeling in the Manning camp that Irsay has been talking "way too much" after urging the quarterback to keep matters "in house." The two sides are no closer to rapprochement.

Colts owner Jim Irsay indicated that he's been in "constant contact" with Peyton Manning the past two weeks, including contract negotiations.
"Our desire to keep him as a Colt and his desire to be a Colt is strong," said Irsay, "and at the same time, the realities that exist, the circumstances that exist that neither one of us control exist as well." The primary roadblock in contract talks is that Manning has no incentive to delay or reduce his $28 million bonus. SI.com's Peter King gives Manning a "8.06 percent" chance of remaining with the Colts.
