Giants re-signed QB David Carr.

The No. 1 overall pick of the 2002 draft talked with the Bucs on Tuesday, but will return to the team where he's spent three of the past four years as Eli Manning's backup. Carr did not attempt a pass in 2011, and has appeared in parts of just 16 games since the end of the 2006 season. The Giants would be in rough shape if Carr were ever forced to take the reins, which is why he's a good fit in New York. Eli hasn't missed a game since '04. Mar 14 - 4:48 PM

Running back increasingly is becoming a major need area for the G-Men. Brown, 25, was set to make a hard push for a roster spot after battling injuries his first three seasons in the league. WR1	1	Hakeem Nicks Sidelined ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Friday that there is optimism in the Giants' organization about Hakeem Nicks' (foot surgery) availability for the season opener. The Giants are on a slightly shorter timeline than the rest of the league because they play the Cowboys in the Wednesday night NFL opener on September 5. Per Schefter, however, Giants doctors don't believe Nicks' fractured fifth metatarsal is a "dire" injury, and he could be back at some point in August. Nicks' injury caused an initial scare, but he sure seems likely to play in Week 1, barring setbacks. He's just not going to do much, if anything, in camp. May 25

University, DePalma played the role of Wes Welker as a practice squad player last year. Although Giants defenders tabbed DePalma as one of the toughest to cover, he remains a long-shot for the 53-man roster. May 23

	2	Jake Ballard Sidelined Giants TE Jake Ballard (microfracture, ACL surgery) concedes his best chance to return in 2012 is by mid-season, "if at all." Ballard will start training camp as well as the regular season on the PUP list. Having signed Martellus Bennett to a one-year contract, the Giants aren't going to count on a contribution from Ballard until the 2013 season. Apr 19
	3	Travis Beckum Sidelined According to the New York Daily News, there's a "pretty good chance" Giants TE Travis Beckum (torn ACL) will be ready for the start of the regular season. "If everything works out, yeah," Beckum said. Beckum is still only two months removed from surgery, so color us skeptical. Even with Jake Ballard (torn ACL) in danger of missing the entire year, the G-Men have little incentive to rush Beckum back after signing Martellus Bennett and drafting Adrien Robinson. Beckum remains a strong candidate for the PUP list. May 7
