Jets re-signed OLB Calvin Pace to a one-year deal.
Pace was released by the Jets in a February salary cap purge. He'll get penciled back into the starting lineup opposite Antwan Barnes, but the Jets should still be pursuing pass-rushing help. Pace, 32 and declining sharply, has recorded a total of 13 sacks over the last three seasons.

ESPN New York's Rich Cimini "wouldn't be shocked" if the Jets re-signed free agent OLB Calvin Pace.
Pace, 32, was released in February, and he has drawn zero known interest. There's said to be some "pro-Pace sentiment" within the Jets' organization. The ten-year veteran started all 16 games in 2012, recording 55 tackles and three sacks.

Jets released OLB Calvin Pace.
The Jets also released veteran S Eric Smith and OT Jason Smith, while TE Josh Baker was waived. The expected series of moves clears roughly $24 million in space for a team that was estimated to be $23 million over the cap. The only surprise is that Bart Scott isn't joining his former teammates on the street. Perhaps he's amenable to returning at a bargain-basement price, but he'll likely be cut loose soon enough. The Jets still aren't in a
good
cap situation, but now have room to breathe. Even if Scott ends up sticking around, Pace and company won't be the last veteran Jets to be handed their walking papers. Going on 33, Pace started 32 of a possible 32 games the past two seasons, but is far from the disruptive force he was upon first arriving in New York in 2008. He'll likely be limited to incentive-laden, one-year offers on the open market.

The Jets are expected to release OLB Calvin Pace, ILB Bart Scott, OT Jason Smith, and S Eric Smith as soon as the waiver period opens in February.
Pace has been one of the least productive pass rushers in the league over the past three seasons. The moves will save $8.56 million on Pace, $7.15 million on Scott, $12 million on Jason Smith, and $3 million on Eric Smith while accounting for just $4.5 million in dead money. The Jets will have still little cap space with just 10 starters under contract.

The Jets don't expect Santonio Holmes (foot) to participate in June's mandatory minicamp.
It's not a surprise, as Holmes is still considered iffy for the beginning of training camp after going down last September. Holmes' injury was serious, but he doesn't seem to be rehabbing with a sense of urgency, instead taking classes at Ohio State. This is a marriage both sides appear keen to end. They almost certainly will in 2014.

Stephen Hill has sat out the Jets' first two OTAs sessions with swelling in his surgically-repaired right knee.
Hill declared himself "100 percent" earlier this month, but that's not the case. Recovering from an operation to repair his LCL, Hill needs as many offseason reps as possible after being utterly lost for the majority of his rookie campaign. He's not off to a good start.
