Willis McGahee believes the transition from Tim Tebow to Peyton Manning under center will actually
increase
his rushing stats this season.
McGahee cites a reluctance to place nine defenders in the box as his primary reasoning, as if Tebow's run-option didn't lend the Broncos rushing attack an inherent advantage last season. From the Week 6 bye, when Tebow took the reins from Kyle Orton, through the end of the season, the Broncos ran the ball on 62 percent of their plays, easily the highest mark in the NFL. McGahee is delusional if he believes his stats will spike with Manning replacing Tebow.

The Broncos are reportedly seeking a "bigger tailback" to share the workload with Willis McGahee.
Coach John Fox is seeking physicality and durability as much as pure size at tailback. The Denver Post lists Boise State's Doug Martin, Utah State's Robert Turbin, Notre Dame's Jonas Gray, San Diego State's Ronnie Hillman and Mississippi State's Vick Ballard as potential targets in next month's draft.

Responding to reports that he wants a pay raise, Willis McGahee took to Twitter Sunday to clarify he intends to "retire a Bronco."
Retiring a Bronco could happen with or without a bump in pay, as McGahee is a 30-year-old running back in the final stage of his career. Saying this also doesn't mean McGahee didn't ask the organization for more money. The Broncos have no intention of satisfying McGahee's contract demand, and may strongly consider drafting his replacement early in April's draft.

The Denver Post reports Willis McGahee is "unhappy with his contract" and recently asked the Broncos for a raise.
McGahee wanted the club to upgrade the four-year, $9.5 million deal he signed last July, but the Broncos flatly refused. He has since fired agent Drew Rosenhaus, but reportedly isn't planning to hold out. McGahee is due only $2 million in 2012 after rushing for 1,199 yards and making the Pro Bowl last season. Soon to be 31 with a history of knee problems, however, he has precious little leverage. This is a reminder that running back is a weakness for Denver's offense entering the offseason. Backups Lance Ball and Jeremiah Johnson are replacement-level at best, and McGahee is an aging, injury-prone, now unhappy starter.

Friday, Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post characterized Knowshon Moreno as a player "fighting for a roster spot" at Broncos OTAs.
Moreno's scholarship in Denver expired when Josh McDaniels was kicked out of town, and he'll now have to fight off Mario Fannin and Lance Ball just to be third string. Moreno underwent surgery to repair his right ACL on December 1. While he is participating in OTAs on a limited basis, Moreno can't afford to lose any burst. We wouldn't be surprised to see Moreno traded before the season.

Broncos TE Julius Thomas underwent surgery last week to repair ligaments in his ankle.
Surgery was performed by noted foot doctor Robert Anderson. Thomas will be limited throughout Denver's offseason program, but should be healthy in time for training camp. A former basketball player and fourth-round pick in 2011, Thomas finished his rookie season with one catch. He'll vie for playing time with Virgil Green and Joel Dreessen behind Jacob Tamme this summer.

Suspended
Broncos TE Virgil Green will not appeal his four-game suspension for violating the league's banned substances policy.
Green was suspended for ADHD. He took it "prior to obtaining an exemption from the league," and says he now has that exemption and is free to take ADHD going forward. "I apologize to my teammates, coaches and fans for my mistake," said Green, "and will make sure to never let anything like this happen again."
