Marc Colombo has decided to retire.
Colombo signed a ceremonial one-day contract in Dallas Friday so he could retire as a Cowboy. He spent five years as their starting right tackle before moving aside in favor of Tyron Smith last season. Colombo, who will turn 34 in October, graded out as one of the worst tackles in the NFL while playing for the Dolphins last season.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel expects free agent RT Marc Colombo to be "forced into retirement" this year.
Colombo appeared to be done two years ago when he was released by the Cowboys. Picked up as a starter in Miami, the 33-year-old graded out 69th out of 76 tackles in 2011, according to Pro Football Focus.

According to the Palm Beach Post, free agent RT Marc Colombo will "definitely" not be back with the Dolphins in 2012.
Colombo, 33, did make some late-season improvements along with the rest of the Dolphins' roster, but still graded out as Pro Football Focus' 70th-rated tackle in the league amongst 76. We'd bet against Colombo starting another NFL game unless injuries force him to. He certainly won't draw much free agent interest.

The Dolphins offensive line has allowed just eight sacks after a league-high 27 in the first eight games.
The run-blocking has improved significantly as well, accounting for eight rushing scores in the past six games. It's a turnaround on the level of the 2010 Bears, though Miami's may be driven more by the quarterback. Matt Moore deals with pressure far more facilely than Chad Henne ever did.

Romo's recovery time was initially supposed to be three weeks, but the team is proceeding cautiously with its franchise quarterback. Coach Jason Garrett said he's "made a lot of progress," but added the team is "erring on the side of caution." Romo is expected to be 100 percent before the start of training camp.

The Cowboys reportedly believe fifth-round pick Joseph Randle can be a "full-time back" if DeMarco Murray suffers another injury.
Also injury prone in college, Murray has missed nine games through two NFL seasons. While we weren't fans of Randle's college tape -- he is straight-linish and not particularly elusive or explosive -- he's going to be a worthy handcuff for drafters of Murray. Randle can get what's blocked and catch the ball.

Coale blew out his knee last November. During OTAs and minicamp, he mostly went through his rehab routine on the side. He needs to be on the field come August to earn a roster spot as insurance in the slot.

Cowboys WR Tim Benford underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Benford will miss the rest of rookie minicamp and OTAs before returning for training camp. The former Tennessee Tech receiver spent the entire 2012 season on the practice squad, and he'll face an uphill battle for a roster spot.
