Carson Palmer has confirmed he will return for a 15th NFL season in 2017.
This was expected all along, but Palmer took his time, just to be sure. Palmer's play fell off dramatically in 2016 following his stellar 2015, though he did stabilize down the stretch. His return is unquestionably good news for the Cardinals, but won't preclude them from seeking their quarterback of the future in the draft. There's a good chance 2017 will be Palmer's 15th and final season.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said he expects Carson Palmer to announce that he's coming back "real soon."
That's been the expectation since Larry Fitzgerald announced his return earlier this week. There was speculation that Palmer was moving his family out of Arizona but that report was quickly refuted by Palmer himself. The 37-year-old got off to a slow start in 2016 but came on strong late in the season. Palmer still has something left in the tank, but we'd expect the Cardinals to operate a run-heavy scheme with David Johnson as the focal point in 2017.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, "those who know them well" believe Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald are "tied at the hip" in terms of their plans to play football in forthcoming seasons.
RapSheet agrees with beat writer Kent Somers that Fitzgerald's commitment to playing another year is a "good sign" Palmer will return, too. Palmer has been noncommittal on 2017, but he has indicated his intention and hope are to play, depending upon how his body recuperates. At age 37, Palmer should be able to give the Cardinals at least one more year of top 15-20 quarterback performance.

The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers believes Larry Fitzgerald's decision to return for the 2017 season is a "good sign" Carson Palmer will continue playing.
Fitzgerald's decision probably would have been tougher if he didn't have some idea Palmer would be back. Palmer definitely sounds like he wants to play, but he's trying to get his body to respond after a trying, battered season. The Cardinals are still hoping to hear official word from Palmer by mid-February.

Cardinals signed WR Jaron Brown to a one-year extension through 2017.
Brown is on I.R. with a torn ACL he suffered last month. It's a good-faith move on behalf of the Cardinals, who clearly have faith in Brown's recovery. With Michael Floyd set to become a free agent, Brown provides quality depth.
