Lions CB Anthony Henry will start in place of Phillip Buchanon on Sunday in San Francisco.
The Lions are shaking up the defense and will also likely start rookie DeAndre Levy in the middle with former No. 1 pick Ernie Sims. Levy, a third-round pick out of Wisconsin, has 65 tackles and an interception in his first season. Buchanon has been a disappointment after getting a two-year contract in March.

Lions declared CB Anthony Henry, third QB Drew Stanton, S Marvin White, FB Jerome Felton, G Manny Ramirez, G Daniel Loper, WR Calvin Johnson and DE Jason Hunter inactive for Week 8 against the Rams.
Henry appears to be a healthy scratch and won't even dress. The Lions' starting cornerbacks will be Phillip Buchanon and William James.

Coach Jim Schwartz revealed Tuesday that the Lions are again considering moving Anthony Henry to safety.
Ko Simpson appeared to be the answer at strong safety earlier this year, but he's been banged up for most of his time in Detroit. The Lions are going to be terrible against the pass no matter who's on the first-team secondary.

Lions LCB Anthony Henry was benched in favor of Phillip Buchanon on Sunday.
Henry started the game, but was pulled for giving up plays. The Lions have now benched both of their projected Week 1 starting corners (Buchanon also got the treatment earlier on). Henry finished with two tackles Sunday.

Ryan Broyles (torn right ACL) began running in a pool on Monday as he ramps up his rehab.
Broyles tore his ACL on December 2 and underwent surgery the following Thursday. That puts him at just under two months removed from knee reconstruction. Incredible, really. "Working my way back just to play football. I just want to be out there as much as possible," Broyles said. "I'm looking forward to the challenge. I’m always up for it. Definitely shooting for Week 1." While Titus Young tries to force his way out of town, it's nice to see Broyles putting in the hard work to get back.

The Lions' official website considers the No. 2 wideout job Nate Burleson's to lose.
Burleson won't be facing stiff competition. Sixth-rounder Corey Fuller is raw, Ryan Broyles is a slot receiver that's coming off an ACL tear, and Mike Thomas/Brian Robiskie/Kris Durham are all journeymen at best. Burleson averaged 4.5 catches for 40.0 yards per game last season, but will turn 32 in August and is coming off a broken leg. There won't be much upside here.
