The Denver Post considers 75 catches the ideal number for Wes Welker and Eric Decker.
Reporter Mike Klis believes the "new balance" in the Broncos' passing attack needs to be Welker and Decker each snagging around 75 balls while Demaryius Thomas gets 85. Peyton Manning has never been a part of an offense where at least three players caught 75 passes, but Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon and Jacob Tamme all cleared 67 in 2010. Decker is the most obvious candidate to fall below 75 grabs, but if he does, it won't be by much. The projection is another reminder Welker's fantasy value is on the downswing in Denver.

Wes Welker admits he feels like he can "be myself a little more" in Denver, and says it was "kind of by design" that he ended up with Peyton Manning.
"There weren't too many quarterbacks that I would've gone out there and played with." Welker also reiterated he expects his numbers to go down in Denver's crowded offense. "I don't really care if they do or not," he said. "It's not my goal. It's not what I'm about or anything else. If I have to catch 112 balls, I don't know if we're gonna be the team we want to be. I'll catch as many as it takes to win."

Wes Welker admitted that he expects his reception totals to drop significantly in Denver.
Welker averaged a mind-blowing 112.0 catches per season during his six-year stint with the Patriots. That's not going to happen in a Broncos scheme that not only emphasizes its talented outside receivers more so than the slot, but will be more balanced than the offenses in New England. "If I have to catch 112 balls," Welker acknowledged, "that probably means we're in trouble."

Peyton Manning said he already feels good chemistry with Wes Welker.
Manning, Welker, Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas are all working out at Duke University this week. It's the first time Welker has caught passes from Peyton. "There's certain guys you just feel like you have timing with right away," Manning said. "He's a guy that has a great feel for how to get open, and understands route concepts and, of course, he played in such a sophisticated offense there in New England, so he's a smart player." ESPN's Chris Mortensen observed Wednesday's workout and "never saw the ball hit the ground."

Coach John Fox indicated the Broncos are being intentionally cautious with Knowshon Moreno in his recovery from an offseason stem-cell procedure on his right knee.
The surgery, which is believed to have taken place either in late January or early February, involved the removal of stem cells from Moreno's pelvis. They were then inserted into his right knee. Four months later, he still can't practice. "He's coming along," Fox said. "We're going to be very cautious. When the doctors give him the full-go go-ahead, he'll be doing everything."

Broncos TE Joel Dreessen underwent arthroscopic surgery to "clean up" his knee.
Coach John Fox termed it "just a little knee procedure, scope, done, just to clean it up." Fox added this would be a good opportunity for backup tight end Julius Thomas, who missed most of his first two seasons with injuries, to get quality reps. Dreessen is expected to return for training camp. He is Denver's primary in-line and blocking tight end, ahead of "move" TE Jacob Tamme.
