1/18/2008: Signed a five-year, $30 million contract extension through 2013. The deal included a $9 million signing bonus and a second-year roster bonus of $5 million. Tuck is eligible for annual $1 million workout bonuses. Another $3 million is available through incentives in the final two years based on sacks and Pro Bowl berths. 2011: $3.45 million, 2012: $3.2 million, 2013: $4 million, 2014: Free Agent

Giants LE Justin Tuck believes poor conditioning played a part in his injury-marred 2011, and he is working to get into better shape this offseason.
Tuck appeared in only 12 games as he battled neck, groin and shoulder injuries. "I'm working harder this year," he said. "I think part of the reason I got hurt last year was I let my guard down. I don’t see myself doing that this year." Tuck's five sacks were his fewest since injury limited him to six games in 2006, which was also the last time he didn't appear in all 16 games. Still just 29, Tuck should be in for a nice bounce-back campaign in IDP leagues.

Coach Tom Coughlin revealed that LE Justin Tuck underwent a recent surgery to clean out scar tissue in his shoulder.
Tuck is already feeling better as a result of the procedure. There was no labrum damage, so Tuck should be back well before the start of training camp.

Giants LE Justin Tuck and the team's medical staff are still "debating" whether he will require surgery on his ailing shoulder.
Tuck battled toe, neck, ankle and groin injuries before coming down with the shoulder injury early in the playoffs. "Honestly, you don't want to have surgery," explained Tuck, "so we are doing everything we can in our power not to have surgery." Tuck's +12.0 rating landed him on Pro Football Focus' All-Postseason Team.

Giants LE Justin Tuck (toe) is expected to be active in Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Tuck was listed as questionable after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday and being limited on Friday. The injury occurred prior to last week's game against the Cowboys, but is said to be of the ''nagging'' variety. His availability will likely be determined on a week-to-week basis going forward.

NFL suspended Giants RB Andre Brown four games for violating the league's policy against performance enhancers.
Running back increasingly is becoming a major need area for the G-Men. Brown, 25, was set to make a hard push for a roster spot after battling injuries his first three seasons in the league. For his career, Brown has only two rushes in four appearances. The Giants may look early in the draft for a running back, perhaps eyeballing Boise State's Doug Martin at No. 32.

Friday that there is optimism in the Giants' organization about Hakeem Nicks' (foot surgery) availability for the season opener.
The Giants are on a slightly shorter timeline than the rest of the league because they play the Cowboys in the Wednesday night NFL opener on September 5. Per Schefter, however, Giants doctors don't believe Nicks' fractured fifth metatarsal is a "dire" injury, and he could be back at some point in August. Nicks' injury caused an initial scare, but he sure seems likely to play in Week 1, barring setbacks. He's just not going to do much, if anything, in camp.

Giants WR Dan DePalma is recovering from offseason hip surgery.
There are no details on the procedure. An undersized (5-11/195) receiver from D-II West Chester (Pa.) University, DePalma played the role of Wes Welker as a practice squad player last year. Although Giants defenders tabbed DePalma as one of the toughest to cover, he remains a long-shot for the 53-man roster.

Giants TE Jake Ballard (microfracture, ACL surgery) concedes his best chance to return in 2012 is by mid-season, "if at all."
Ballard will start training camp as well as the regular season on the PUP list. Having signed Martellus Bennett to a one-year contract, the Giants aren't going to count on a contribution from Ballard until the 2013 season.

According to the New York Daily News, there's a "pretty good chance" Giants TE Travis Beckum (torn ACL) will be ready for the start of the regular season.
"If everything works out, yeah," Beckum said. Beckum is still only two months removed from surgery, so color us skeptical. Even with Jake Ballard (torn ACL) in danger of missing the entire year, the G-Men have little incentive to rush Beckum back after signing Martellus Bennett and drafting Adrien Robinson. Beckum remains a strong candidate for the PUP list.
