Lions agreed to terms with DT C.J. Mosley, formerly of the Jaguars, on a two-year, $2.75 million contract.
He signs just two days after being cut by the Jaguars. Mosley overtook Terrance Knighton on the depth chart last season, but was viewed as a poor fit for new coach Gus Bradley's system. A pure run-stopper, Mosley should see somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 snaps behind Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley.

Free agent DT C.J. Mosley is "expected" to sign with the Lions.
The former Jaguar visited on Tuesday. Mosley was released just two days ago, and has yet to make any other visits. It doesn't sound like the Lions are going to give him the opportunity.

Mosley was released by the Jaguars on Monday. Highly productive against the run last season, Mosley would provide depth behind Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley in Detroit.

Jaguars released DT C.J. Mosley.
The move frees up $2.475 million in salary, but saves less than $500,000 versus the salary cap. Mosley was cut because the new Jaguars regime isn't high on his scheme fit under Gus Bradley; he wasn't a salary cap casualty. Mosley, 29, racked up 45 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season, playing for Mel Tucker. Tucker is now the defensive coordinator in Chicago.

Ryan Broyles (torn right ACL) began running in a pool on Monday as he ramps up his rehab.
Broyles tore his ACL on December 2 and underwent surgery the following Thursday. That puts him at just under two months removed from knee reconstruction. Incredible, really. "Working my way back just to play football. I just want to be out there as much as possible," Broyles said. "I'm looking forward to the challenge. I’m always up for it. Definitely shooting for Week 1." While Titus Young tries to force his way out of town, it's nice to see Broyles putting in the hard work to get back.

The Lions' official website considers the No. 2 wideout job Nate Burleson's to lose.
Burleson won't be facing stiff competition. Sixth-rounder Corey Fuller is raw, Ryan Broyles is a slot receiver that's coming off an ACL tear, and Mike Thomas/Brian Robiskie/Kris Durham are all journeymen at best. Burleson averaged 4.5 catches for 40.0 yards per game last season, but will turn 32 in August and is coming off a broken leg. There won't be much upside here.
