49ers waived K Shane Andrus.
It looks like Joe Nedney (knee) is ready to resume kicking. Andrus missed a 47-yard field goal and had a 37-yarder blocked Monday night against the Cardinals. He'll resurface as a camp leg in 2011.

49ers re-signed K Shane Andrus.
Andrus, 30, was with the team during the offseason and appeared in five games last season, missing his only field goal opportunity. Joe Nedney is out for at least one game with a right knee sprain and bone bruise in his leg.

49ers re-signed K Shane Andrus to a one-year contract.
Andrus failed to draw a tender offer from the Niners earlier this month. He'll be a camp leg backing up veteran Joe Nedney and punter Andy Lee throughout the summer. Nedney's job is secure.

Kendall Hunter (Achilles surgery) still expects to be a full go for training camp.
Hunter, who blew out his left Achilles' tendon on Nov. 25, recently resumed sprint work. He won't participate in OTAs or minicamps, but claims he's on track to battle for reps behind Frank Gore come August. Still, it would be an awfully quick recovery for Hunter. Note that Mikel Leshoure's rehab from the same injury lasted roughly 13 months. Leshoure also lacked burst upon return.

Although the 49ers' medical exam of Marcus Lattimore (knee surgeries) yielded positive results according to Jim Harbaugh, the coach says Lattimore must take a "step back" in terms of cutting drills.
"The ACL looks really good for Marcus," insisted Harbaugh. "We're just going to have to take a step back in terms of the cutting because we want that inside of the knee, the lateral side of the knee to heal fully. But we're good." Lattimore conceded he'd be "fine" with sitting out the entire 2013 season. Harbaugh said the 49ers will determine his playing status at a later date.

Mario Manningham agreed to a pay cut to stay in San Francisco, slashing his base salary from $3.6 million to $1.8 million.
Manningham is coming off ACL and PCL reconstruction, so he had no leverage. The total pay cut is actually $2.15 million because Manningham agreed to eliminate a $250,000 offseason roster bonus in addition to a $100,000 workout bonus. Manningham suffered the injury in Week 16 and is not expected to be healthy for training camp. Anything the 49ers get from him in 2013 will be a bonus.

49ers WRs Kyle Williams (torn ACL) and Mario Manningham (torn ACL and PCL) will not participate in OTAs.
Williams was facing an uphill battle to be ready for the offseason program, but he's reportedly on pace to return at the start of training camp. Manningham was never expected to participate in OTAs, and he's a candidate to start the season on the PUP list. Both will compete for roster spots.
