Retired WR Calvin Johnson reiterated he has no plans to return to the NFL.

Several other current and former NFLers including Antonio Brown and Hines Ward have participated in the show. At the very least, this announcement should put thoughts of a 2016 return to bed.

that he took painkillers "every day" during his playing career.
Megatron stated team doctors handed out painkillers "like candy" early in his career, before scaling back as it progressed. "You can’t take Toradol and pain medicine every day, you know. You’ve got to give that stuff a rest, and that was one thing I wasn’t willing to do." Megatron also admitted he had his "fair share" of concussions. Johnson added that he might have put off retirement for another few years if the Lions were more competitive: "If we would’ve been a contender, it would have been harder to let go." Johnson turns 31 in September.

Calvin Johnson said he knew 2015 would be his last year in the NFL before the season began.
Johnson has not wavered in his retirement decision, but that will not stop the comeback questions from popping up every time he is in public. He was asked about the future at his "Catching Dreams" football camp on Saturday, and he swatted down any talk of unretiring. Unfortunately for people who like to watch elite receivers dominate, Johnson has played his last NFL snap.

Lions GM Bob Quinn believes his backfield is "in good shape."
"Between Ameer (Abdullah), Theo (Riddick), Zach (Zenner), Dwayne (Washington) and Mike James and whoever else we might bring in here in the future," Quinn said. "I think we’re going to have plenty of running backs to carry the load." The "whoever else" quote is interesting with LeGarrette Blount rumors flying, but it seems clear Quinn is content with Abdullah and Riddick leading the running game. If the duo can stay healthy, which is a big if, they should find success behind what looks like an improved offensive line.

Theo Riddick underwent surgery on both of his wrists after the season.
The injuries cost Riddick the final four games of last season, and they might prevent him from participating in the offseason program. While roles throughout the rest of Detroit's backfield remain in flux and could be affected by the draft, Riddick should be locked in as the team's passing-down specialist. Under OC Jim Bob Cooter, the Lions have embraced a quick-pass offense that suits Riddick's skill set. He will again be a worthwhile mid-round investment in 2017 PPR drafts.

Lions RG T.J. Lang (hip, foot) said he will be ready for training camp.
Lang underwent foot and hip surgeries after the season, but that did not stop the Lions from giving him a three-year, $28.5-million contract early in free agency. The veteran will sit out his first offseason program in Detroit, but he claimed to be a little ahead of schedule in his recovery. With Rick Wagner now at right tackle, the Lions managed to upgrade their offensive line despite losing Larry Warford and Riley Reiff in free agency.
