It's a big step. "I feel very confident," Revis said on NFL Network. "If (they tell me) to cut, I am cutting. I am not trying to think about (it)." Coach Greg Schiano said Monday that "everything is gearing towards" Revis being ready for Week 1.

Schiano took time out from pressuring Josh Freeman to confirm his new No. 1 cornerback remains on track in his rehab. Revis figures to take things slow in camp, but barring a setback, he'll be ready to roll vs. the Jets in Week 1.

Revis sustained his tear nearly eight months ago. The Bucs are confident that by the time training camp rolls around, he'll be 100 percent and ready to integrate with his new teammates. If Revis doesn't return to something near his previous form, GM Mark Dominik will look silly after giving up the No. 13 pick in the draft.

Bucs GM Mark Dominik explained how he anticipates the acquisition of Darrelle Revis improving Tampa Bay's 2013 pass rush.
The Bucs don't have great pass rushers -- typically a fantasy defense necessity -- but they are suddenly an interesting D/ST because Revis will make them so much better. "When you have a Darrelle Revis on your team, it creates a pause. ... If Matt Ryan is out there looking over to his right and sees Roddy White has Revis over him, is he thinking about Revis over there? Is he spending the time thinking? Then, when the play takes off and he turns and looks at Roddy White and he sees No. 20 or whatever it is going to be, he sees that he’s well-covered and it is close, he is going to have to pause and the pause creates sacks. You can get it from a lot of different ways. Certainly elite pass-rushers can help and create havoc, but elite cornerbacks create a pause and that creates sacks."
