3/4/2013: Signed a five-year, $56 million contract. The deal contains $26 million guaranteed -- a $15 million signing bonus, Bowe's 2013 and 2014 base salaries, and $1.75 million of his 2015 salary. Dwayne Bowe expects to lead the NFL in receptions and receiving touchdowns this season.
Bowe also predicts teammate Jamaal Charles will lead the league in rushing. "When we get in full gear and pads and close to the season, it’s going to be a show to watch," Bowe said. Bowe is clearly energized by the Chiefs' attempt to sport a living, breathing offense in 2013, but Alex Smith's weak arm could make it hard for him to light up the stat-sheet. At the very least, he should easily top last year's line of 59/801/3. Bowe is a WR2 in fantasy leagues.

Dwayne Bowe expressed excitement about Andy Reid's offense after the Chiefs' pre-draft minicamp.
Reid hasn't coached a short to intermediate receiver as skilled as Bowe since Terrell Owens in the early-to-mid 2000s. "It’s exactly what I dreamed," Bowe said. "It’s only the third day but you can already imagine 40 days of everybody getting in sync. This offense is going to be up and running." Bowe was widely billed as a West Coast receiver coming out of LSU. He's now playing in a true WCO.

The Kansas City Star says Alex Smith may be the best quarterback Dwayne Bowe has ever played with.
During Bowe's six NFL seasons, he's caught passes from the likes of Matt Cassel, Brady Quinn, Damon Huard, Brodie Croyle, Tyler Thigpen and Tyler Palko. e's still averaged 4.7 catches for 65.0 yards per game and scored 39 touchdowns. Although Smith is middling game manager, he has a better chance of putting Bowe in positions to succeed. Bowe, still just 28, has a great chance to set career-highs in receptions and yardage this season.

Chiefs GM John Dorsey isn't worried about Dwayne Bowe's motivation after signing his five-year, $56 million deal Monday.
SI's Don Banks reported in February that "many teams" were worried about Bowe having a "decreased effort level" after signing a long-term deal. "I told him it’s his responsibility to uphold his end of the bargain. He said he understood the challenge ahead and he totally embraced that challenge," Dorsey said. "He is ready to take that position of being one of the top receivers in professional football." Instead of worrying about hypotheticals, Dorsey stepped up to the plate and kept a top-flight player. Bowe is going to draw an immense amount of targets from new QB Alex Smith in 2013.

Chiefs RB Shaun Draughn is missing OTAs due to a sports hernia.
There's no word on whether Draughn underwent surgery. A third-year UDFA out of North Carolina, Draughn was serviceable in the Jamaal Charles backup role last season, but will be guaranteed nothing under the new Kansas City regime. He can't afford to miss much time after Knile Davis was drafted in the third round.

Chiefs placed WR Terrance Copper (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and signed WR Junior Hemingway from the practice squad.
Copper, 31 in March, caught eight passes for 79 yards on the season, but he holds more value to the Chiefs as a special teams player. He's under contract for $840,000 in 2013. Hemingway was taken in the seventh round of this past year's draft out of Michigan.

The Chiefs thought Moeaki might be ready by now, but predictably, he's not. He does remain on track to be ready for training camp. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, the Chiefs have greased the skids for Moeaki's departure after signing Anthony Fasano and drafting Travis Kelce.
