Despite the first-round pick used on David Wilson, GM Jerry Reese insists Ahmad Bradshaw will be the Giants' "lead dog" at running back.
Wilson is considered a bit developmental in that he doesn't always find holes instinctively and must improve in the passing game. Bradshaw still figures to open the season as a 15-18 touch-per-game back. "We’ve got [Bradshaw] and he’s going to be the lead dog for us, but we wanted to get another running back at some point," said Reese. "[Wilson] was the top player on our board."

Ahmad Bradshaw insists his feet are "perfect" after taking a late February injection of bone marrow.
Running on a treadmill, Bradshaw says he hasn't felt this good in eight years. He could be in for a bigger role this year depending on the backfield additions in the draft and the last wave of free agency.

Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) has been "impressed" by the results of the late February injection of bone marrow in his troublesome right foot.
Bradshaw said he was given the choice of having one of the screws in his foot replaced, or receiving an injection. He'll miss OTAs, but barring a setback, will be ready for training camp. Bradshaw is hoping for more carries in the absence of Brandon Jacobs. "I just plan on touching the ball a little more, becoming a bigger part of the offense, not only running the ball but (receiving), too."

Ahmad Bradshaw will miss Giants OTAs after receiving an injection of bone marrow from his hip in his troublesome right foot.
Bradshaw received the shot, which has twice been billed as other things, in late February. He "hopes" to return to football activities before the end of June. The shot was designed to accelerate healing and stimulate growth. As of yet, there's been nothing to suggest Bradshaw won't be ready for camp, but surgery can't be ruled out if he doesn't progress as hoped. With only Da'Rel Scott, Danny Ware and the suspended Andre Brown on the roster at running back behind Bradshaw, finding another runner should be a priority for the G-Men.

NFL suspended Giants RB Andre Brown four games for violating the league's policy against performance enhancers.
Running back increasingly is becoming a major need area for the G-Men. Brown, 25, was set to make a hard push for a roster spot after battling injuries his first three seasons in the league. For his career, Brown has only two rushes in four appearances. The Giants may look early in the draft for a running back, perhaps eyeballing Boise State's Doug Martin at No. 32.

One person familiar with Hakeem Nicks' fractured foot told ESPN's Adam Schefter that it's "more like a 4-6 week injury."
Nicks has a fractured fifth metatarsal, which is the same injury suffered by Cowboys rookie Danny Coale earlier in the week. We had wondered about the timetable discrepancy, as Coale was expected to be sidelined for roughly a month. We should have a better idea on Nicks' true timetable after surgery is performed on Friday. His status for opening day may not be in question after all.

Giants WR Dan DePalma is recovering from offseason hip surgery.
There are no details on the procedure. An undersized (5-11/195) receiver from D-II West Chester (Pa.) University, DePalma played the role of Wes Welker as a practice squad player last year. Although Giants defenders tabbed DePalma as one of the toughest to cover, he remains a long-shot for the 53-man roster.

Giants TE Jake Ballard (microfracture, ACL surgery) concedes his best chance to return in 2012 is by mid-season, "if at all."
Ballard will start training camp as well as the regular season on the PUP list. Having signed Martellus Bennett to a one-year contract, the Giants aren't going to count on a contribution from Ballard until the 2013 season.

According to the New York Daily News, there's a "pretty good chance" Giants TE Travis Beckum (torn ACL) will be ready for the start of the regular season.
"If everything works out, yeah," Beckum said. Beckum is still only two months removed from surgery, so color us skeptical. Even with Jake Ballard (torn ACL) in danger of missing the entire year, the G-Men have little incentive to rush Beckum back after signing Martellus Bennett and drafting Adrien Robinson. Beckum remains a strong candidate for the PUP list.
