The Cardinals started Pago Togafau at inside linebacker in Monday night's preseason game against Tennessee.
Monty Beisel has been ousted from the lineup. Togafau, ironically, was cut by the Titans during the offseason. The Cards appear to be giving him the first crack at Gerald Hayes' (back) position, while easing in rookie Daryl Washington. Washington, though, will prove hard to keep off the field.

Titans LB Pago Togafau will be sidelined for a month after breaking a bone in his right foot during a recent workout.
Togafau, who broke the same foot last year with Arizona, recently underwent surgery to repair the break. The special teamer should be back up to speed by training camp.

Togafau was claimed off waivers last month and will try to make the 2010 roster as backup inside linebacker and special teamer.

Coach Bruce Arians reiterated that the running back spot is open to competition.
Rashard Mendenhall may be the slight favorite as he had his best years under Arians in Pittsburgh and will be roughly 20 months removed from his ACL tear when Week 1 rolls around. But Ryan Williams, Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington will all be in the mix as well. "You really can't tell until the lights come on," Arians said. "Some were different from this morning's walkthrough to the afternoon practice. Until you turn the lights on, you really don't know about them."

Cardinals TE Jeff King is recovering from knee surgery, but could be ready to resume practicing by early June.
The blocking tight end is sitting out OTAs, but sounds like he'll be ready for training camp. He's likely recovering from a scope. A seven-year veteran, King graded out as the third-worst tight end in the league in Pro Football Focus' ratings last season.
