According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Ravens
are
in communication with unsigned franchise player Ray Rice.
ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reported Wednesday that the sides have
not
had contact, but La Canfora is more optimistic. "I think that one gets sorted out, I really do," La Canfora said. "They're talking, there's some constructive dialogue going on." Per La Canfora, "it's pretty clear" Rice will receive something between $20M and $25M guaranteed. La Canfora estimated that the contract will be worth $8.5M a year, with "$22 million, something like that, guaranteed."

Wednesday that unsigned franchise player Ray Rice wants "Adrian Peterson money," and the Ravens are unwilling to pay it.
"This holdout could end in training camp, if then," Sal Pal said. "... He wants Adrian Peterson money. He would like to have Chris Johnson money, which means about $30 million guaranteed. And I was told by a Ravens team official, a senior official, 'That is simply not going to happen.'" Paolantonio hinted that Rice could be headed for an extended holdout. He's had no recent contact with Ravens brass, and the sides appear to be far apart two months before camp.

ESPN's Adam Schefter disputes a report that the Ravens have made progress in contract talks with unsigned franchise player Ray Rice.
Citing a source, Schefter reported that the sides "have not made any progress." The Baltimore Sun reported early Monday that the Ravens-Rice talks were progressing, but "no deal is imminent" or nearing closure. Rice reportedly wants $10 million a year, and he's not going to get that amount from Baltimore.

"Sources familiar with the talks" tell the Baltimore Sun unsigned franchise player Ray Rice and the Ravens have made progress toward a deal in recent weeks.
The source cautions, however, that "no deal is imminent and there remains plenty of work to do." The "hope" is that the sides will reach a long-term agreement before June's mandatory minicamp. The Chicago Tribune reported Sunday "it is believed" Rice is seeking a deal worth $10 million annually. That's a price the Ravens are unlikely to meet.

Ravens KR David Reed (torn ACL) is hoping to soon resume running.
Reed is less than two months removed from his ACL tear, but says he "(feels) like I’m getting a lot of the motor control back." He hopes to be ready for training camp, but is still a candidate to begin the year on PUP. Fumbles cost Reed his job in Week 10 last season, and he won't be guaranteed a roster spot in 2012.
