Giants DB Terrell Thomas' one-year contract has a base value of $700,000, with an additional $500,000 available via incentives.
Thomas received a $630,000 base salary, $35,000 signing bonus, and $35,000 offseason workout bonus. It's quite a fall from his previously scheduled $6.75 million. The new deal leaves open the possibility that the Giants could cut Thomas before Week 1 with very little sunk cost. Thomas, 28, is trying to mimic Panthers LB Thomas Davis' return from a third career ACL reconstruction.

Giants signed DB Terrell Thomas to a restructured contract.
Financial details should emerge this week, but it's expected to be a one-year, "prove-it" type deal where Thomas plays out the 2013 season in hopes of improving his 2014 market value. Thomas has torn his right ACL three times, the latest occurring in one of the first practices of 2012 training camp. He is expected to compete for sub-package duties at cornerback and/or safety this summer.

Giants DB Terrell Thomas (torn ACL) resumed jogging Tuesday.
Thomas is very familiar with the rehab process as this is his third ACL tear. "Overall no swelling, pain or discomfort so the first day of running really felt great," he said. The Giants will release Thomas before his $6 million bonus is due in March, but could bring him back on a minimum deal. GM Jerry Reese has already suggested that Thomas may be better off moving to safety going forward.

Giants DB Terrell Thomas (torn ACL) will begin running next week.
"Everything has been progressing smoothly as I begin to add more weight and lunges to my routine," Thomas said via his personal blog. Thomas had his ACL in his right knee surgically-repaired for the third time in his career in mid-September. If he returns to the Giants in 2013, GM Jerry Reese suggests Thomas could move to safety to take some pressure off his knees.

"I don't really negotiate my contract in the media," said Nicks. "Let my agent do that. I just play football." The 2009 first-round pick is entering a contract year. The Giants are highly unlikely to let Nicks walk, but his history of leg injuries could compel them to adopt a deliberate pace in talks. Nicks would be a strong candidate for the franchise tag if no long-term deal is reached.
