According to the National Football Post, one NFL team thinks Vikings WR Jerome Simpson would be making $5 million a year if not for his fall arrest.
He ended up accepting a one-year, $2 million prove-it deal. $5 million is optimistic for Simpson, but he's reportedly not perceived as a "bad kid" despite being arrested for having 2.5 pounds of marijuana mailed to his house in September. Some teams do think highly of Simpson's ability, so a strong 2012 season could earn him a big pay raise next offseason.

The Vikings believe they stole a starting-caliber receiver on the cheap with the signing of Jerome Simpson.
Off-the-field issues killed Simpson's market value, but the Vikings got him on a one-year, $2 million deal. "He's a legitimate split end," said OC Bill Musgrave. "He has speed to threaten down the field and also get in and out of breaks and beat man coverage." Added Christian Ponder, "The guy is so fast. He's so athletic. I think he's going to be a great asset to our 'X' position."

Jerome Simpson is expected to start opposite Percy Harvin once he returns from his three-game suspension if "all goes to plan."
Simpson is considerably more talented than Michael Jenkins at this point in their careers, while the Vikings didn't draft a receiver before the fourth round. Simpson is maddeningly inconsistent, but coming off a 50/725/4 campaign, he'll be worth a flier as a WR4/5 even though he'll be playing catch-up after his ban.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Jerome Simpson's route running "regressed" as the season went along last year.
Simpson was inconsistent and unreliable in his first season as a starter, in large part because he didn't have a full grasp on Jay Gruden's offense. While his talent is worth a roll of the dice for the receiver-needy Vikings, Simpson's 2011 catch rate was fourth worst among all wideouts graded by Pro Football Focus.

Adrian Peterson (ACL, MCL, meniscus surgery) believes he's "50-50" to be participate in training camp.
"I feel like I will be able to get out there and you call a run play or whatever, I'll be able to go through practice. That's how I feel. That's my mindset," said Peterson. "But I'm going to follow the protocol. Whatever the Vikings and their staff want me to do, then I'm gonna do that; but I'm not going to hinder myself. I'm going to let those guys know how I feel."

Percy Harvin's minor shoulder surgery has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, April 24.
The procedure will end up being delayed two weeks due to a family emergency, but Harvin is still expected to be ready for OTAs that begin May 29. The estimated recovery period after Harvin gets bone spurs cleaned out is three weeks.
