Vikings signed RT Andre Smith, formerly of the Bengals, to a one-year, $3.5 million contract.
The deal includes $1 million guaranteed. Smith was using an alleged visit with the Cardinals as leverage in negotiations, but there was never much doubt he would land in Minnesota. The former No. 6 overall pick's play fell off sharply last season, but he will try to rehab his value in Minnesota before hitting the market again at age 30. The Vikings' biggest need heading into free agency was the offensive line, and they have done a great job addressing that need by signing Smith and LG Alex Boone. With Smith now in the fold, the Vikings should line up with Matt Kalil at left tackle, Boone at left guard, John Sullivan at center, Brandon Fusco at right guard and Smith at right tackle in 2016.
