Beanie Wells' right knee surgery this week was indeed arthroscopic in nature.
Considering Wells' history with knee woes the past couple of seasons, it's a relief that the procedure -- performed by Dr. James Andrews -- wasn't more extensive. While it's certainly not ideal for Arizona's top two tailbacks to be coming off of surgery, Wells should be fully recovered by training camp, if not OTAs.

Beanie Wells will undergo surgery on his right knee Tuesday.
The Cardinals didn't announce the extent of Wells' operation, but it isn't believed to be more than a cleanup procedure. Wells wasn't the same after tweaking his right knee in Week 7, averaging just 4.0 yards per carry over his final 10 games. Through three NFL seasons, Wells has yet to prove he can remain healthy and effective across a 16-game campaign. This will be Wells' second career knee surgery. He also had a torn meniscus repaired in September of 2010.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt clarified that Beanie Wells' deactivation in Week 17 was purely a coach's decision looking toward the future.
Wells wanted to continue playing through his knee injury, but Whiz decided it wasn't worth the risk. "I want to make sure people understand that was no reflection on Beanie," said Whisenhunt. "... I know the next time that we get Beanie on the football field, he'll be a heck of a lot more healthy than he was [Sunday] and even the last five or six games."

The Cardinals are not expected to let Ryan Williams (patellar tendon surgery) take part in team drills until training camp.
Williams could potentially be healthy for OTAs, but the Cards won't push it. By all accounts, the 21-year-old's recovery is going well. "No injury is going to stop me, unless one of my legs is (cut) off," said Williams. Last year's 38th overall draft pick, Williams' 2012 role will be determined by his recovery. Ideally, he could be an explosive change-up back behind Beanie Wells.
