Although former 49ers RB Glen Coffee still wants to play football at the recreational level, he believes the NFL "ruins lives."

"Because what happens is they see that as success," says Coffee. "And money throughout your life has nothing to with your salvation in Christ. A lot of players get that money. And they chase that money ... they're really missing the true meaning of life." Asked if he would return to the NFL one day, Coffee responded, "I never say never ... Coach Jim Harbaugh declined to say what was ailing his No. 1 back, offering up only that he's "working through a little something." Gore has taken a tremendous amount of punishment throughout his career, but hasn't missed a game since Harbaugh took over as coach in 2011. Offseason absences are not a concern for the eight-year veteran. May 28
	2	Kendall Hunter Sidelined 49ers RB Kendall Hunter (Achilles) has resumed cutting at OTAs. Hunter will be a full eight months removed from his torn left Achilles' when the 49ers hit training camp at the end of July. Running backs have a longer recovery period than other positions because of their need to cut. It's a positive sign that Hunter's been able to do so nearly two months before camp opens. May 31

	5	Marcus Lattimore Sidelined 49ers signed No. 131 overall pick RB Marcus Lattimore to a four-year contract. Lattimore will likely spend all of 2013 as a reserve while he continues to rehab his knee. He was touted as having "top-10" ability pre-injury, and the 49ers plan to have him 100 percent healthy for 2014. May 31

In other words, he's not putting a timeline on it. Manningham thinks he'll be ready for Week 1, but is still just five and a half months removed from tearing up his knee in Week 16. The 49ers are thin at receiver, but will be even thinner if they rush Manningham back and he suffers a setback. Jun 11
WR2	1	Kyle Williams Sidelined 49ers WRs Kyle Williams (torn ACL) and Mario Manningham (torn ACL and PCL) will not participate in OTAs. Williams was facing an uphill battle to be ready for the offseason program, but he's reportedly on pace to return at the start of training camp. Manningham was never expected to participate in OTAs, and he's a candidate to start the season on the PUP list. Both will compete for roster spots. Apr 11

	5	Michael Crabtree Sidelined Michael Crabtree had the stitches removed from his torn right Achilles' tendon Monday. Crabtree underwent surgery to repair his full tear on May 22.
