Oher has been charged with misdemeanor assault. Oher is accused of knocking the driver to the ground after the driver "put his hand on Oher's face." The Panthers have said they are aware of the incident. The fact that Oher is being charged with a misdemeanor bodes well for his odds of avoiding league discipline. Oher remains in the concussion protocol more than six months removed from the injury, but he seems to be progressing. The tackle has been working out at the Panthers' facility five times a week, and both GM Dave Gettleman and now Rivera have appeared optimistic about his chances of getting back on the field. With Matt Kalil set to take over at left tackle, Oher will likely slot in on the right side if he is able to return.

Panthers GM Dave Gettleman said Michael Oher remains in the league's concussion protocol.
Oher has been in the protocol for six months but seems to be progressing. He's been active in the weight room, working out at the Panthers' facility five times a week. "His workouts right now are not for the faint of heart," said Gettleman. "He’s down there grunting like everybody else." Oher still has a long road to recovery but at least it looks like he's heading in the right direction.

Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports the Panthers are "cautiously optimistic" about Michael Oher (concussion) continuing his career.
Oher has still not cleared the concussion protocol over six months removed from originally suffering the injury, but he has been working out at the stadium, suggesting he plans to make a comeback. If Oher is able to play, he will likely switch to right tackle with new signing Matt Kalil taking over on the left side.

Newton underwent arthroscopic surgery on March 30 but should be ready for the start of training camp. He's looking for a bounce-back season after setting career-lows in both quarterback rating (75.8) and completion percentage (52.9) last year.
