7/26/2012: Signed a seven-year, $23.16 million contract. The deal contains $6.925 million guaranteed -- a $3.5 million signing bonus and each of his first two base salaries. Morstead is eligible for annual $100,000 workout bonuses in years two through seven. 2013: $2.15 million, 2014: $2.185 million, 2015: $2.35 million, 2016: $3 million (+ $400,000 roster bonus due in March), 2017: $3.15 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due in March), 2018: $3.55 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due in March), 2019: Free Agent

Saints signed P Thomas Morstead to a six-year, $21.9 million extension through 2018.
The deal makes Morstead the third-highest paid punter in the NFL, behind only Oakland's Shane Lechler and San Francisco's Andy Lee. The contract also reflects Morstead's dual value as both an elite punter as well as one of the league's top kickoff specialists. According to Pro Football Focus, no full-time punter allowed fewer than Morstead's 116 return yards last season.

Saints P Thomas Morstead recently underwent left shoulder surgery.
Morstead injured the shoulder during the Saints' first preseason game but played with the ailment all year and fared well, averaging 45.9 yards per punt. The punter/kickoff specialist should be fine for all offseason programs.

X-rays were negative on Saints P Thomas Morstead's shoulder, and he was cleared to return to Thursday's game.
The Saints got a scare when their punter and kickoff specialist Morstead went down early the game, but it sounds like he's good to go for next week. Morstead was the only Saints player with any luck tackling Julian Edelman Thursday night.

Saints Punter Thomas Morstead injured his shoulder while trying to make a tackle in Thursday's preseason opener against the Patriots and did not return.
PK Garrett Hartley punted in Morstead's place on the following series (he boomed it 52 yards), and it is being reported that Morstead will not return to the game.

Saints coach Sean Payton promises the looming contract showdown with Jimmy Graham will have no effect on where Graham lines up in 2013.
Graham, entering a contract year, is going to want to be paid as a receiver whether it's on a long-term deal or franchise tag. He could command upwards of $12 million annually. "We're going to put people in different spots all the time to get them open," said Payton. "Whatever we have to do is not going to be dictated by the interpretation of some rule. We're just going to try to win."
