Jets signed CB Ellis Lankster to a two-year extension through 2013.
Signed from the practice squad in October, Lankster went on to appear in six games and record six special teams tackles. He didn't get any snaps on defense, but could perhaps push for a role in New York's dime sets in 2012.

Jets re-signed CB Ellis Lankster.
With Donald Strickland (head) and Isiah Trufant (hamstring) in doubt, Lankster is back for depth. The three-year veteran spent the preseason with the Jets before getting waived at final cuts.

Lankster returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown in the preseason finale, but it wasn't enough. Perhaps it'll earn him a spot on the practice squad.

Sidelined
Santonio Holmes recently shed light on the details of his 2012 Lisfranc foot fracture, and it was of the most severe variety.
Holmes said the fracture was "grade four" in nature -- the most serious kind -- and included a muscle tear in addition to a joint separation in his mid-foot. Holmes required a followup surgery to remove a plate and screws from the foot in March, but two screws will stay in permanently. Holmes still can't run or cut, and his status for Week 1 is very much in question. ESPN New York's Rich Cimini suspects the Jets may have to add another receiver.
