Coach Bill O'Brien announced Friday that the Texans will move forward with Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback.
A week too late, of course. Ryan Mallett was so bad that he isn't even worth discussing in this space. Hoyer has at least shown signs of being able to generate offense, compiling a 5:2 TD-to-INT ratio through three appearances (one start) while completing over 62 percent of his throws. He gives the Texans their best chance to get the ball consistently to DeAndre Hopkins, which at this stage is Houston's lone means of passing offense. Hoyer should be scooped up in two-quarterback leagues with Jacksonville, Miami, and Tennessee's weak defenses next up on the schedule before a Week 9 bye. Oct 9 - 3:40 PM
