According to Pro Football Weekly, it ''wouldn't be shocking'' if the Packers released suspended DE Mike Neal after the draft.
Neal was limited to seven games last season and is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancers. If the Packers target a pass-rushing defensive end early, Neal could become expendable. He's no more than a potential-ridden "prospect" at this point.

Packers DE Mike Neal claims his four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances came as the result of a technicality.
According to Neal, his positive test was triggered by a prescription medication he simply forgot to alert the Packers he was taking. Players are allowed to take properly prescribed medications that contain banned substances as long as they provide full "medical information." Neal lost an appeal to have his ban overturned. Limited to seven games by a knee injury last season, Neal notched just three tackles and zero sacks.

Neal is a weight-room warrior who has battled several injuries in his first two NFL seasons. The Packers were already expected to target a pass-rushing defensive end early in next month's draft. The need is more pressing with Neal out of the lineup the first four games.

Packers DE Mike Neal will take a full month off to rest the left knee injury that plagued him throughout his 2011 campaign.
Expected to replace Cullen Jenkins at right end, Neal instead fell behind both Jarius Wynn and C.J. Wilson, managing just three tackles in seven games. The 56th overall pick in the 2010 draft, Neal is no more than a potential-ridden "prospect" at this point. The Packers must upgrade their pass rush this spring, finding a new right outside linebacker and competition at right end.

Packers team physician Dr. Pat McKenzie is "hopeful" that RB Alex Green (ACL surgery) will be ready for training camp.
Already running four days a week, Green has graduated to "a little bit" of cutting. He's stayed ahead of schedule in his rehab all offseason. "My speed is picking up daily," Green said. "I'm definitely excited with where I'm at."

Packers coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged that TE Andrew Quarless (ACL, MCL surgery) will be "challenged" to be ready for training camp.
Quarless is a candidate to open the season on the PUP list. "Andrew, just from a timetable standpoint, is a question mark," McCarthy admitted. The Packers' top three tight ends to open the year should be Jermichael Finley, Tom Crabtree, and D.J. Williams. Quarless could reenter the mix around midseason.
