Rams claimed TE Brody Eldridge off waivers from the Colts.
Eldridge played guard and center at Oklahoma and was a first-team All-Big 12 pick as a sophomore fullback in Bob Stoops' offense. Purely a blocker, he'll compete for a roster spot with Mike Hoomanawanui behind Lance Kendricks.

Colts waived TE Brody Eldridge.
Drafted in the fifth round as a blocking specialist in 2010, Eldridge tallied 14 receptions for just 84 yards in 27 games over the past two seasons. He could get picked up by a team looking for a strong run blocker at tight end.

Colts TE Brody Eldridge has undergone surgery on his injured hand.
The Colts have yet to comment on the exact nature of Eldridge's injury, but he's a good bet to miss multiple games. It's bad news for a team that's also going to be without Dallas Clark for at least the next few weeks, and explains why TEs Mike McNeill and Anthony Hill were signed Tuesday. Jacob Tamme will start in Week 10.

Colts TE Brody Eldridge left Sunday's loss to the Falcons with a hand injury in the first quarter and did not return.
With Dallas Clark (leg) also sidelined, the Colts may need to look for street help at the tight end position. Jacob Tamme was left alone to carry the load yesterday.

Suspended
NFL suspended Rams rookie WR Austin Pettis four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Barring a successful appeal, the Rams' third-round pick will be suspended for the final two games of this season and the first two of 2012. St. Louis' starting slot receiver since Greg Salas went down Week 9, Pettis has averaged just 2.6 catches for 27.6 yards in six games. St. Louis doesn't have an obvious candidate to man the slot in Weeks 16 and 17, but it's possible KR Nick Miller could get a look. With both Danny Amendola and Salas expected to be 100 percent healthy for 2012 training camp, there's little reason to hold onto Pettis in dynasty leagues.

Hoomanawanui suffered the injury in mid-November. Assuming he takes the normal recovery path, he should be getting close to 100 percent just as training camp opens.
