Chiefs OT Steve Maneri has been moved to tight end.
Undrafted out of Temple in 2010, Maneri was a tight end in college. He appeared in six games last season, starting one. His position switch could mean either the Chiefs like his versatility, or that he's running out of time to prove himself in the NFL.

Chiefs claimed OT Steve Maneri off waivers from the Patriots.
He's the sixth Patriot claimed in final cuts, which Bill Belichick can't be happy about. Maneri has swing tackle potential as an athletic former tight end. In K.C., he gives the team more insurance against a Barry Richardson flop.

Patriots signed OLs Steve Maneri and Thomas Austin to futures contracts.
A tight end at Temple, the 6'6/271-pound Maneri remains in a developmental phase entering his second NFL offseason. He went undrafted last April. Austin played college ball at Clemson. At 6'3/315, he projects as a guard.

Patriots waived OT Steve Maneri.
A college tight end, Maneri is still developing as an athletic offensive tackle prospect. He'll probably clear waivers and go onto the practice squad.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Friday that the Chiefs have "no concerns whatsoever" about Jamaal Charles' ACL recovery.
"Chiefs tell me no concerns whatsoever," Mort reported on
ESPN 32
. "... They expect him certainly to be ready for training camp. They're excited about him." Though Charles is sitting out OTAs, all signs point to him returning fully in camp. Mort also noted new Chiefs OC Brian Daboll's success with a somewhat similar player in Reggie Bush last year with the Dolphins. Bush set career highs in carries (216) and rushing yards (1,086) in Daboll's scheme.

Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki (ACL surgery) expects to be at full strength for the opening of training camp in late July.
Moeaki has been running and lifting weights, but he's still unsure about his participation level in offseason practices beginning next month. Moeaki will be more than 10 months removed from surgery by the time camp opens, so his Week 1 status should in no way be in jeopardy.
