Raiders suspended OLB Aldon Smith was a passenger in a car that struck a police cruiser in San Francisco on Thursday morning.
The driver of the car was investigated for sobriety while one passenger was detained for public intoxication. Smith was investigated for a domestic violence incident last month. He just can't seem to stay out of trouble. Once seen as a shoo-in to be reinstated, Smith could be looking at more time away from football.

Officer Grace Gatpandan said Raiders suspended OLB Aldon Smith is "cooperating with SFPD" regarding an incident which occurred over the weekend.
Gatpandan did not disclose the nature of the investigation, saying just that Smith "was mentioned in the report." TMZ Sports reported Smith is being investigated for a "domestic incident." Hoping to get reinstated in March, this is a bad look for Smith even if the investigation comes to nothing.

TMZ Sports reports suspended Raiders OLB Aldon Smith is under investigation in California for a "domestic incident."
Smith was not reinstated during the 2016 season -- a decision made by the NFL that was not well received by the Raiders -- and he now may be in trouble again. Details are vague, however. Per TMZ, cops were called to a home in San Francisco where Smith was questioned along with an "alleged victim." Expect more information to surface about the incident over the next few hours/days.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, "barring a slip up," suspended Raiders OLB Aldon Smith will be reinstated in March.
Smith met with commissioner Roger Goodell in December but his reinstatement bid was deferred for another three months. Now Smith appears to be home-free as long as he can stay clean. Substance abuse issues have derailed Smith's career in recent years but he's still an important pass rusher for the Raiders. The 27-year-old's contract is up after next season.

Raiders RT Austin Howard's shoulder operation was to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff.
It's a major operation to repair an injury that happened during training camp. Howard will need the majority of the offseason to recover and rehab, but should be ready for next Week 1. Going on 29, Howard was ineffective as he played hurt in 2016. He's signed for $4.9 million in 2017.
