The Detroit News expects Mikel Leshoure to eventually draw a two-game suspension for his twin offseason marijuana arrests.
Leshoure has enrolled in the NFL's substance abuse program, and is being tested "several times" a week. Still rehabbing his torn Achilles', Leshoure insisted he is "feeling great" at Lions OTAs. "I don't know what percentage it's at or anything because I haven't really pushed it to the limit yet," he said. "There's plenty of time for that. ... But I will be ready to roll by the season."

Lions RBs Mikel Leshoure (Achilles) and Jahvid Best (concussion) are both expected to be 100-percent healthy in plenty of time for the 2012 season.
Leshoure is "right on schedule" with his recovery. He may not be a full participant in OTAs or minicamp, but will be in training camp. Best has been working out since the end of last season and will be cleared for contact in June. Leshoure could be facing a suspension after two arrests for marijuana possession.

Lions RB Mikel Leshoure pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana, first offense, on Friday.
A plea bargain reduced the charge from possession of marijuana, second offense. Leshoure was ordered to pay a $575 fine with no jail time, as the judge agreed the NFL's testing program would be more stringent than any disciplined handed down by the court. Leshoure was fined $485 in early March after pleading guilty to his first charge of marijuana possession. He's expected to face a suspension of up to four games.

Lions RB Mikel Leshoure tested positive for marijuana as a sophomore at Illinois.
Pro Football Weekly, which uncovers many hidden infractions, had nothing about Leshoure's one-game 2009 suspension in last year's scouting reports. That incident had slipped under the radar until Leshoure's two marijuana-related arrests in the past two months. The NFL can and will factor in Leshoure's entire history when dishing out punishment. He could face a suspension in the range of 6-8 games. Leshoure has a court hearing scheduled for May 15 after demanding a preliminary exam Wednesday morning.

Jahvid Best (concussions) was a full participant at Lions OTA practice Monday.
Best worked with the first-team offense and was not limited in the no-contact practice. Mikel Leshoure (Achilles') also participated on a limited basis, before admitting he's not yet 100 percent. Best will be a dicey 2012 fantasy pick, but we like him as a high-end RB3. He projects as a 12-15 touch-per-game back.

Second-round WR Ryan Broyles (ACL surgery) is not participating in team drills at Lions OTAs.
"I am just doing as much as I can," Broyles said. "(Monday) was my first day of practice. I am about half-speed but I feel good." Coach Jim Schwartz said Broyles is on a good pace in his rehab. "Everything he does is part of a very structured progression," Schwartz said. "We will start increasing his workload based on how his body feels. He's having a very good rehab. He's doing well."
