Texans DBs coach Vance Joseph says CB Roc Carmichael looked "a little slow" in OTAs after missing his entire rookie season with a shoulder injury.
"With Roc, what I’ve seen is a guy who’s missed football," Joseph said. "He’s missed a year of football, but you can see the physical tools. ... I’m expecting Roc to play better in camp." Joseph's comments don't exactly bode well for a fourth-round reach who was also injury prone in college. Even if Carmichael keeps his roster spot, he won't make an impact in Houston's secondary.

Texans placed CB Roc Carmichael on injured reserve, ending his season.
Also injury prone at Virginia Tech, Carmichael missed all of preseason and Week 1 with the lingering shoulder ailment. A reach as a fourth-round pick in April's draft, Carmichael will return to compete for a roster spot in 2011.

Texans rookie CB Roc Carmichael has missed the entire exhibition season with a shoulder injury.
The fourth-rounder out of Virginia Tech also missed the majority of training camp, so he's facing an uphill battle to make the final roster. His status for the preseason finale remains up in the air.

Texans selected Virginia Tech CB Roc Carmichael with the No. 127 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
Carmichael has NFL-reedy speed, but is a bit undersized, and is expected to struggle in run support. However, he notched 10 combined interceptions over his final two seasons at Virginia Tech, and has excellent instincts. Carmichael could be an early contributor in new DC Wade Phillips' system.

Speaking at Texans OTAs Monday, coach Gary Kubiak described WR DeVier Posey's Achilles' rehab as "ahead of schedule."
Kubiak did admit Posey is a candidate to open the season on PUP, although that decision will be made at a much later date. A 2012 third-rounder out of Ohio State, Posey will not be counted on for 2013 impact after a slow rookie year.
