Bills CB Justin Rogers will be rotated back in at the nickel corner spot in Week 2.
Rogers was dealing with a bit of a hamstring injury late in the preseason and it lingered into Week 1. Leodis McKelvin had won the job out of training camp but after the Bills were torched by Mark Sanchez and the Jets last week, head coach Chan Gailey is opening the competition back up. They will see a lot of the Chiefs' Dexter McCluster on Sunday.

The Bills' official depth chart lists Justin Rogers as the team's primary kick returner.
It's a surprise in that most expected Brad Smith to be listed in the initial release. Rogers averaged 28.7 yards per return over a small sample-size last season. In addition to special teams, he's competing with Leodis McKelvin for the Bills' starting nickel corner job.

The Bills' website expects second-year CB Justin Rogers to win the team's nickel corner job.
Rogers appeared in 12 games as a rookie and is expected to see significant playing time in sub-defenses, with Aaron Williams and Stephon Gilmore on the outside. Lead journalist Chris Brown notes that Rogers was "among the more impressive" players in OTAs, and has more slot experience than Leodis McKelvin, Terrence McGee, and fourth-round CB Ron Brooks.

Bills secondary coach George Catavolos has high hopes that seventh-round CB Justin Rogers will make an impact as a rookie.
"I think this guy might be the ... I don't want to say surprise of the draft," said Catavolos, "but I do think this young man has the make up intelligence-wise and physical skills that could be very beneficial for us this season." Rogers showed elite return ability and ball skills at small-school Richmond, but he has to get stronger at just 5'10" and 183 pounds.

Stevie Johnson has "no idea" when he'll be cleared from the back injury that has sidelined him since mid-April.
Johnson missed the initial phase of Buffalo's offseason conditioning program and is now sitting out full-squad OTAs. The Bills' website calls the injury a "strain." Said Johnson, "It’s just frustrating seeing the guys running around, but it’s getting better. ... I’m just doing everything that they’re telling me to. I’m doing the weight room stuff. Of course I’m inside the playbook and when they give me the green light I’ll be ready to go."

Bills TE Scott Chandler is sitting out full-squad OTAs while continuing to rehab his torn left ACL.
Chandler suffered the injury on December 23 and his training camp status is in question. The 28-year-old's role in new coach Doug Marrone's offense is also uncertain, although Buffalo did little to upgrade tight end other than draft Chris Gragg in the seventh round. Chandler's 2013 fantasy outlook is bleak.

Bills re-signed exclusive rights free agent TE Mike Caussin to a one-year, $630,000 contract.
Caussin missed the entire 2012 season as he recovered from a torn ACL. Assuming he makes the roster, Cuassin will provide special teams help and insurance at tight end with Scott Chandler now dealing with an ACL tear of his own.
