Panthers waived DT Frank Kearse.
24-year-old Kearse is a big body out of Alabama A&M. He goes to make room for UDFA Nate Chandler. The Panthers should still be in the process of trying to unearth defensive tackle help. Starters Ron and Dwan Edwards have been overworked and ineffective. Kearse has practice squad eligibility left.

Panthers signed DT Frank Kearse off the Dolphins practice squad.
At 6'4" and 320 pounds, the wide-bodied Kearse is well worth the three-week trial for a team desperately in need of a run plugger. He's a developmental project out of Alabama A&M.

The Dolphins like the seventh-rounder's size and motor. He'll be added to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed.

Dolphins signed seventh-round DT Frank Kearse to a four-year deal.
The Dolphins need some depth at nose tackle behind Paul Soliai, so Kearse has a chance to stick. Kearse is a strict run-stuffer at 6'4/315.

ESPN NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas reiterates that Jonathan Stewart (ankles) might not be ready for training camp.
Stewart underwent surgery on
both
of his troublesome ankles this offseason. He hasn't participated in any of the offseason program. The Panthers haven't expressed any concern over Stewart's Week 1 status, but it will be a situation to monitor come August. Stewart needs to prove his health in order to ensure he's the top dog in the committee with DeAngelo Williams.

Pilares went down during Sunday's win over the Redskins and will need surgery. His second NFL season ends with two catches for 42 yards and nine kickoff returns for 216 yards. Joe Adams figures to carry the load in the return game going forward.

Panthers rookie TE Brandon Williams will be sidelined until training camp after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
An undrafted free agent and former college basketball player, Williams was more of a practice-squad than 53-man roster candidate to begin with. The knee scope will further decrease Williams' odds of landing a job behind Greg Olsen.
