Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer does not get "the vibe" the Browns are interested in Geno Smith.
This disputes a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who linked Smith with the Browns and Chargers. Geno's only concrete link has been with the Giants, who he visited over the weekend. Still recovering from ACL surgery, Smith will likely have to wait a while to find a new home.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Chargers and Browns "have interest" in free agent Geno Smith.
RapSheet added Smith's visit with the Giants over the weekend "went extremely well." Of the three links, the Browns are the only team where Smith would have the opportunity to compete for a starting job. With Geno recovering from an October ACL tear, teams will likely want to see how his rehab is progressing before really kicking the tires.

Art Stapleton of The Record reports free agent Geno Smith will visit the Giants on Saturday.
Smith, of course, just finished a tumultuous run with the Jets. The Giants need to find a capable backup behind Eli Manning, but they also need to look toward the future with Manning clearly in his decline phase. Unless they think Smith has untapped potential, they would be better served turning to the draft.

Shane Vereen agreed to reduce his base salary from $3.15 million to $2.15 million.
The details of the agreement are not available, but Vereen will likely be able to earn some of that money back via incentives. The Giants made it clear Vereen would return when they paid his $500,000 roster bonus earlier this month, but this move gives them some financial relief in the event he is not able to come back from tearing his triceps twice last season.
