Giants GM Jerry Reese believes fourth-round pick Ryan Nassib has similar traits to Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton.
Like Dalton, Nassib has mediocre arm strength and is probably a borderline starting-caliber NFL talent. "We like the accuracy about him," said Reese. "We like that 'it' factor on him. When I first watched him he reminded me of the QB at Cincinnati that played at TCU." Reese confirmed the Giants selected Nassib at No. 110 overall because "we pick the highest guy on the board."

SI's Peter King reports new Giants QB Ryan Nassib was "wounded" by the Bills' decision not to draft him.
The Bills touted new coach Doug Marrone's college quarterback through back channels for months, only to spurn him in favor of E.J. Manuel. It was the most believable pre-draft smokescreen in an offseason full of them. It was the right approach from a football standpoint, but highly regrettable from a human one.

Giants GM Jerry Reese said he hopes new quarterback Ryan Nassib "never plays."
Reese considers 32-year-old Eli Manning to be in his prime. He hopes to develop Nassib as a long-term backup that could yield some trade fruit down the line. "We've been thinking about developing a quarterback behind Eli for a while now," Reese said. "We think this is a perfect opportunity for us to get a young quarterback with a lot of talent. The value was too high for us." Nassib has a great shot to beat out David Carr for the backup job as a rookie.

Giants traded up to select Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib with the No. 110 overall pick, sending Nos. 116 and 187 to the Cardinals.
Projected by many to come off the board at No. 8 overall, Nassib settles for a competition with David Carr to be Eli Manning's backup. Nassib (6-foot-2 1/8, 227) was a three-year starter in Doug Marrone's shotgun-heavy, up-tempo Syracuse offense, completing 60.3 percent of his passes with a 70:28 TD-to-INT ratio. Rated the No. 1 quarterback in this class by draft gurus Russ Lande and Greg Cosell, Nassib flashes NFL-quality anticipation and can drive the ball at the intermediate level. He is the draft's most accurate passer, and has the quickest release. Nassib's big negatives are his tendency to become frenetic in the pocket and let his deep ball sail.

Giants FB Henry Hynoski has been diagnosed with an injured left MCL and chip fracture to his lateral plateau.
It's actually a positive revelation for Hynoski. When he went down during Wednesday's OTA session, it looked like Hynoski could have blown out his ACL or patella. Instead, he will undergo surgery Friday and has a realistic shot at being back for Week 1. Hynoski graded out as Pro Football Focus' fifth-best fullback in terms of lead blocking last season.

Updating a previous item, Yahoo's Jason Cole now says Hakeem Nicks did
not
skip Wednesday's OTAs as a contractual protest.
This situation could get cleared up quickly if Nicks' camp would just say why he hasn't shown up. Instead, his agent has strongly denied the absence is contract related, but won't offer any more details. Nicks was in New York as of Tuesday night, so perhaps he'll show up this week to explain. He doesn't have much leverage after posting an injury-plagued 53/692/2 line last season.
