One source told Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole that Raiders owner Mark Davis and GM Reggie McKenzie spoke to "confidants" this week about what to do with first-year head coach Dennis Allen.
Allen has done "little or nothing to inspire confidence" as a rookie coach, as his offensive coordinator hiring of Greg Knapp has proved an ill fit for Oakland's personnel, and Allen's defensive side of the ball has been the Raiders' biggest problem area. Cole seems to hint that Allen could be one-and-done in Oakland, although McKenzie and Davis are still weighing their options.

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie gave rookie coach Dennis Allen a vote of confidence at a press conference Friday.
"I’m still pleased with Dennis," said McKenzie. "It’s like, I’m a rookie in this thing, Dennis is a rookie in this thing. So I’m sure he has some rookie mistakes but overall I’m happy with Dennis." The Raiders are 3-8 and have been disappointing even for a rebuilding team, playing especially on Allen's side of the ball. Allen was the Broncos' defensive coordinator last year.

Raiders hired Jason Tarver as defensive coordinator.
Tarver will work as second fiddle to defensive-minded head coach Dennis Allen, who has left the door open to run either a 4-3 defense or 3-4 in Oakland. Tarver ran a 3-4 at Stanford, which may hint at Allen's plans. Tarver, 37, worked last season as a co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Cardinal. He was the Raiders' pick over Packers CBs coach Joe Whitt Jr.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Stanford DC Jason Tarver is under consideration for the same position with the Raiders.
Tarver just completed his first season at Stanford. Only 37 years old, he served in various different capacities as a 49ers assistant from 2001-10. Despite competing in the high-scoring Pac 12, Stanford ranked 23rd in points against in 2011, and 24th in yards allowed. Those totals ranked second and first, respectively, in the Pac 12.

Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (Lisfranc surgery) says his foot is 100 percent healed.
Ford suffered Lisfranc injuries in each of the past two seasons, but finally appears to be 100 percent. The explosive receiver has a career 17.0 YPR average, and anticipates being used on returns this season in addition to being one of the team's top pass catchers. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, it will be important for Ford to show he can remain healthy.

New Raiders KR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) says he'll be ready "when it’s time to play football."
Cribbs called Jets GM John Idzik's observation that his knee "(wasn't) quite there yet" a "negotiation tactic" before admitting he might not be ready to practice for over a month. Regardless, Cribbs should be ready well in advance of Week 1, and is slotted in as the Raiders' primary return man.
