Lions signed CB D.J. Hayden, formerly of the Raiders, to a one-year contract.

He can earn up to $5.25 million. The 12th overall pick of the 2013 draft, Hayden was one of many first-round busts that year. Many experts had Hayden pegged as the best corner in that draft, but he's had a far worse start to his career than the three corners -- Desmond Trufant, Xavier Rhodes, Darius Slay -- drafted directly after him. Hayden couldn't cut it on the outside in Oakland, so the Raiders tried him in the slot. He was somewhat serviceable there, but no better than league average. Maybe DC Teryl Austin can get more out of Hayden. He's still just 27 (in June). It's not a bad flier. Mar 10 - 8:39 AM

"Between Ameer (Abdullah), Theo (Riddick), Zach (Zenner), Dwayne (Washington) and Mike James and whoever else we might bring in here in the future," Quinn said. "I think we’re going to have plenty of running backs to carry the load." The "whoever else" quote is interesting with LeGarrette Blount rumors flying, but it seems clear Quinn is content with Abdullah and Riddick leading the running game. If the duo can stay healthy, which is a big if, they should find success behind what looks like an improved offensive line. May 4
	2	Theo Riddick Sidelined Theo Riddick underwent surgery on both of his wrists after the season. The injuries cost Riddick the final four games of last season, and they might prevent him from participating in the offseason program. While roles throughout the rest of Detroit's backfield remain in flux and could be affected by the draft, Riddick should be locked in as the team's passing-down specialist. Under OC Jim Bob Cooter, the Lions have embraced a quick-pass offense that suits Riddick's skill set. He will again be a worthwhile mid-round investment in 2017 PPR drafts. Mar 26

Lang underwent foot and hip surgeries after the season, but that did not stop the Lions from giving him a three-year, $28.5-million contract early in free agency. The veteran will sit out his first offseason program in Detroit, but he claimed to be a little ahead of schedule in his recovery.
